In case you were wondering about the fabulously exciting inner-workings of the Twain Trip, Northwestern publication NU Intel did a little piece on us.

“A cross-country road trip in a crowded van might conjure images of Little Miss Sunshine. Replace the mute brother, drug-addled grandpa, precocious 7-year-old, and eccentric parents with a 70-year-old journalist turned professor, a recent Medill grad putting off a career, and a current journalism student looking for the thrills of the open road and you’ll have the “Twain Trip” — sort of.”

Alyssa Karas (b. May 16, 1989) was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated in June from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. At Medill she wrote for the online and magazine editions of North by Northwestern and then served as editor-in-chief of NU Intel, an online publication. Outside of Medill Alyssa has reported for the metro desk of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, written commercials for Pittsburgh television station WTAE, covered courts for The Oregonian, and this summer worked for the Indianapolis Star as a Pulliam Fellow.
